The collection consists of speaker releases, posters, and other publicity materials from Holocaust Awareness Week events at Northeastern University. 2015 program added 2015 Feb 19; and 2013-2014 and 2016 programs added 2016 Feb 19. The Northeastern University Holocaust Awareness Committee was organized in 1991 and is affiliated with the Northeastern University Office of Spiritual Life. Prior to the Holocaust Awareness Committee's organization in 1991, Northeastern University had an annual Holocaust Remembrance Week, which was organized by the Office of Spiritual Life between 1977 and 1991. Membership includes Northeastern University students, faculty, and staff of various religious and ethnic backgrounds. The Holocaust Awareness Committee's primary purpose is to remember the Holocaust, not only as a historical fact and a memorial to its millions of victims, but also as a warning for the future. The Holocaust Awareness Committee presents programs that bear witness to the Holocaust and explore issues arising out of the War of Extermination against Jews and other groups targeted by the Nazis.
