Summary:
This series documents the operations of the standing and ad-hoc committees of the Faculty Senate. Materials in this collection include agendas and minutes, appointment lists, correspondence, and reports from the committees. The Financial Affairs materials includes records from both the original ad-hoc committee and the later standing committee. The ad-hoc committees are organized alphabetically by name of the committee (with "Committee on" excluded where appropriate). The ad-hoc committees reviewed issues related to all aspects of university life from academic programs and the university calendar to parking. Many of the ad hoc committees relate to faculty working conditions (including grievance, tenure, and sabbatical polices); others relate to faculty appointments, benefits, and faculty participation in University governance. Search committees were formed to select department chairs, deans, the Provost, and the University President. Program review committees were formed for many of the University's academic departments. Both the Search committee files and Program review committee files are arranged alphabetically by the name of the position or program. The Faculty Senate has the responsibility of naming members to non-Senate University-wide committees; these materials are included in the Non-Senate Committees file.
