Delegations
Summary:
This series documents a consortium of 40 institutions in New England and China, that was established in 1980 to collaborate educational and cultural exchange programs with the People's Republic of China. Member institutions included Northeastern University, Bunker Hill Community College., Bentley College, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Massasoit Community College, Harvard University, Jiaotong University (Xi'an), Northwest University (Xi'an), Sichuan University (Chengdu), Sichuan Conservatory of Music (Chengdu). Dean Joy W. Viola was actively involved in the creation of the NECC and served as president from 1981 to 1982. Included in this series are meeting minutes, issues of the China Newsletter, NECC constitution and bylaws, correspondence, and records on programming and other activities. Also included is documentation on pre-NECC delegations and correspondence regarding Chinese-New England institutional collaborations leading to the creation of the NECC.
