Summary:
This series contains photographs documenting John A. Volpe's public service in Massachusetts, and one television recording introducing the first Nixon cabinet. Volpe was accompanied by a photographer on most, if not all, of his official duties. All swearings-in and presentations were photographed. Special appearances, VIP meetings, ceremonial occasions, and official encounters of all kinds are documented in this series. Volpe himself is in nearly every frame, posing with recipients of awards, visiting dignitaries and celebrities, members of honored organizations, and various constituents. The photographs are particularly useful in providing a comprehensive visual companion to the detailed documentation of public service found in the other six series of the collection.
Each subseries is organized alphabetically, with the exception of B. First Term as Governor (1960-1962) which is organized chronologically. Approximately half of the series is composed of black and white 8"x10" photographs. The remainder are 4"x5" negatives.
