Committees

This series consists of advertising, correspondence, and the minutes and notes of meetings of various Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Political Alliance of Massachusetts committees. The majority of the committee minutes and notes are from the Executive Board, the Steering Committee, and the Victory Fund Political Action Committee (VFPAC). Meeting notes, most of which are handwritten, chronicle event planning, involvement in a variety of gay-related current events, and internal operations.

The Victory Fund Political Action Committee oversees the political endorsement process, which began in 1983 and is a significant part of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Political Alliance of Massachusetts's activism. Committee members gather data on political candidates' stances on gay issues. This information is collected via surveys, campaign material, and the "Candidate's Night" event. The Victory Fund Political Action Committee recommends candidates for endorsement, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Political Alliance of Massachusetts members vote to confirm.

Other records include advertisements and a mix of informational brochures and flyers publicizing events and meetings. The bulk of the correspondence relates to the organization of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Political Alliance of Massachusetts events and includes communications with local political and civic leaders as well as related social justice organizations. Also included are scattered issues of the organization's monthly newsletter and programs, correspondence, and notes from the annual community recognition awards dinner.
