Summary:
Community Resources for Justice formed in 1999 when Massachusetts Half-Way Houses, Inc. (MHHI) and the Crime and Justice Foundation (CJF) merged. Community Resources for Justice carried on the work of both its predecessors, retaining and operating the halfway houses previously owned by MHHI and studying and advocating for alternative sanctions and correctional reform as CJF had done. This series includes some material predating the establishment of Community Resources for Justice, gathered by the organization to represent and record its history; additionally, the series documents the 1999 merger that produced Community Resources for Justice. The bulk of the materials, however, were generated by Community Resources for Justice in the course of its work. These records include annual reports, audits and financial statements, board meeting minutes, bylaws, budgets, publications, newspaper clippings, strategic planning files, and records relating to contract work performed for governmental bodies.
