Summary:
This series documents Massachusetts Half-Way Houses, Inc. from the organization's founding in 1964 until 1999, when it merged with the Crime and Justice Foundation to form Community Resources for Justice. The materials include annual meeting minutes and annual reports; financial statements, audits, and budgets; minutes from meetings of the board of directors and committees; organizational records such as bylaws, newsletters, strategic planning materials, correspondence, and reports; materials relating to contract work performed for government bodies; and records of the 1987 Stigma conference sponsored by MHHI. Also included in the series are materials pertaining to properties owned by and facilities in Boston operated by Massachusetts Half-Way Houses, Inc. The facilities best documented are Brooke House (79 Chandler Street), Coolidge House (305-307 Huntington Avenue), and Mary E. Sargent House (577 Massachusetts Avenue). The series also includes newspaper clippings, records of major anniversary celebrations, and files pertaining to the 1999 merger with the Crime and Justice Foundation.
