Summary:
The series contains audio, photographic material, and video of local and national coverage of the Big Dig, the majority of which features Daniel McNichol as Deputy Director for Public Affairs of the Central Artery/Tunnel Project. Audio material includes audiocassettes of off-air tapings of Daniel McNichol interviews on WAMU, WATR, WBZ, WERS, WICN radio stations. Photographic material consists of electronic copies, prints, and slides of construction of the John F. Fitzgerald Expressway, Mystic River Bridge (Maurice J. Tobin Memorial Bridge), Spectacle Island, Ted Williams Tunnel, and Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge. In addition, there are also Big Dig equipment and personnel images. Video material includes Betacam Video Cassettes, DVDs, Mini DV Cassettes, and VHS Cassettes off-air tapings and official media of Big Dig local and national news and dedicated programming on the Discovery Channel, History Channel, and PBS. The local and national news material covers major events in the construction timeline including accidents, leaks, financing, tunnel collapse (2006), and official openings. There is a limited amount of Central Artery/Tunnel official videos. In addition, there are several interviews with Daniel McNichol as independent author concerning his books on the Big Dig.
