Summary:
This series includes publications such as reports, research studies, and articles written by Yoel Camayd-Freixas throughout his career at universities, community organizations, consulting firms, and in the public sector. His research focuses on the Latino population's education and dropout rate, neighborhood housing services, community development, health and mental health services, and political involvement. The earliest publications are from Camayd-Freixas'... time as a doctoral student while the bulk of the publications were published by Camayd-Freixas during his tenure with the Boston Public Schools' Office of Research and Development during the 1980s. Additional publications were authored during his time with Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Boston Urban Research and Development Group, Jamaica Plain Hispanic Outreach Team, and La Alianza Hispana. These organizations and Camayd-Freixas' publications centered on Latino community development and strategic planning, particularly around health and education issues. Publications intended for the community include Spanish-language comics published through La Alianza Hispana for teens. The collection also includes limited publications from his time at New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation and Southern New Hampshire University. Camayd-Freixas also worked and published in the private sector, primarily through consulting firms he established. In the 1980s YCF Associates in Boston published surveys of tenant needs in a number of the city's neighborhoods for the Boston Housing Authority. As the president of Camayd Group from 1992-2001, Camayd-Freixas wrote a number of reports for corporations as well as for various projects, including Miami-Dade Neighborhood Housing Services, South Beach Development Corporation, Jubilee Community Development, and the Bobby Maduro Stadium.
