Chinese Song-Zhu Cultural Association (Reading, Massachusetts), 1988

This series consists of the records of Asian and Pacific American-focused groups in the Boston area and throughout the United States. Included are local grassroots organizations, student groups, and national organizations, the majority of which are based in either Massachusetts or California. The most common record types are newsletters and flyers; also included are correspondence, conference programs, and calendars. Organizations that worked more closely with AARW, and correspondingly have more complete records within this collection, include two whose records are held by Northeastern Archives and Special Collections as separate collections: the Asian Community Development Corporation (collection identifier: M202) and the Chinese Progressive Association (collection identifier: M163). Other organizations also represented include the Coalition for Asian Pacific American Youth, the South Cove Community Health Center, and the U.S.-China Peoples Friendship Association. In addition, the series includes substantial runs of newsletters from organizations such as the Asian American Arts Alliance, Asian American Journalists Association, Japantown Art and Media Workshop, National Association of Asian American Professional, National Association for Asian and Pacific American Education (NAAPAE), and Vietnamese American Civic Association.
