The Roxbury Historical Society was organized as the Roxbury Military Historical Society in 1891, reorganized as the Roxbury Historical Society on April 10, 1901 and incorporated on May 15, 1901. The Society researches and preserves community memory by collecting oral histories and offering opportunities for historical presentations and discussions. The records include the Byron Rushing papers and the Boston Cable Television Conference (audiovisual), Circle Associates, Massachusetts Black Caucus, Roxbury Action Program, United Black Appeal, and United Front records.
